In the tradition of the lovely spatterware designs on American and English wares, this French pie dish by the famed maker Gien, dates from c. 1910. It measures 10 1/4" in diameter, and stands 2" high at the edge. There is some minor discoloration on the underside, but the top surface remains crisp and colorful. There are some traces of gold decoration remaining.

Although I can't find this pattern in any of the Gien resource books, it is strikingly and beautifully decorated. The Romanesque or Renaissiance Revival swirls are punctuated with the typical satyr heads on each side, and all perch on the matching underplate. The piece is in very fine condition, and both pieces are marked with a painted "Gien", and manufactured by that company in France. The cache pot measures 10" inside diameter, and 8 1/4" in height. The diameter of t ...click for details

This French, signed "Galle" (in the impressionistic twist of the letters), art pottery vase shows the strong Art Nouveau influence of the french school of decoration. There are yellow and Chinese red flowers with black foliage all highlighted in subtle gold and gold washes, all on a deep, dijon ground. The condition of the c. 1900 piece is excellent, with only the expected crazing, but virtually no wear on the inside. It measures 6 1/2" high by 9" in diameter. France, c. 1900

Here is a striking example of a Derby miniature, namely, a bowl and pitcher in the imari pattern. The bowl measures 3 1/4" across, while the pitcher is approx. 2 1/4" high. The mark is that of the Derby Porcelain Company under the aegis of Stevenson & Hancock c. 1859 - 1935. The gold decoration is brilliant and unrubbed, and the piece is in over all grand condition.

Measuring 10 1/2" in diameter, this life-like rendition of a bulldog or boxer (dog-lovers, forgive me if I have the wrong breed) is marked "Cauldon, England". Although not prominent on the front, there is a crack running through the center of the plate (see back detail). Otherwise, no chips or repairs. There is a signature on the lower left which reads G. Pederson. What a marvelous find for a dog lover; England, c. 1900.

There seems to be a wide, and always surprising variety of item manufactured in a majolica glaze by the Wedgwood factory in the Nineteenth Century. This is certainly one of those. 14 1/2" tall x 8 1/2" wide. The rectangular base measures 4" x 5". The photos speak for themselves as far as design and color are concerned. There is a clock complete with a key which appears to be overwound. I am selling the clock works "as is" and make no claims as to difficulty/ease in ...click for details

Here is a jolly witness to a very decorative smoking dish; a laughing orange and blue dressed monk with a marvelous gremlin-bulldog holder for matches on the side. The piece measures 8" high, 7" wide, and 3 1/2" deep. It is, I believe, German, and has a high "lustre" glaze over most of the surface. It is in excellent condition.
