There seems to be a wide, and always surprising variety of item manufactured in a majolica glaze by the Wedgwood factory in the Nineteenth Century. This is certainly one of those. 14 1/2" tall x 8 1/2" wide. The rectangular base measures 4" x 5". The photos speak for themselves as far as design and color are concerned. There is a clock complete with a key which appears to be overwound. I am selling the clock works "as is" and make no claims as to difficulty/ease in ...click for details

Pratt began manufacturing color transfer wares, little did he imagine what a vast market would open up for his colorful pottery. Manufactures of pomades, bear grease, potted shrimp and fish paste were eager to package their goods in these functional, colorful boxes. The subject of the picture is "The donkey's foal". With a swain sitting on a fence, and a maid standing by, bucket in hand, and a spaniel at their feet, this Staffordshire pottery group stands 6" tall, and still retains most of its brilliant colors. Although there is a tiny chip on the orange spill-vase edge (see detail), all heads, feet and limbs are intact. The most charming small piece I have had in a number of years.
