Standing 13" high, 5 1/2" in diameter, this striking Old Paris vase with a youth carrying a light in the reserve, is a striking plum red. Someone in its long, event filled century and a half has filled the bottom inside with plaster for weight (often items were weighted when put on mantles or shelves, so cats wouldn't breeze by and knock the piece off!). In an unusual shape, and pattern, this Sarreguemines pottery pin tray has a transfer print of Japanese fisherman. It is marked "Decor 1861" on the underside, along with the Sarreguemine mark. It measures 8 3/8" long by 4 3/4" wide. This tray, or vide poche (a tray for holding the contents of a gentleman's pockets, is in excellent condition. France, c. 1870
This reclining clown figural dish is so typical of the marvelous trifles manufactured by French and German porcelain makers right up until the First World War. This character, dressed in magenta and white, with gilt (slightly worn) shoes, measures 6 1/2" x 4 1/2". It is in superb condition with only a bit of ware to the gilt.
