Here is a jolly witness to a very decorative smoking dish; a laughing orange and blue dressed monk with a marvelous gremlin-bulldog holder for matches on the side. The piece measures 8" high, 7" wide, and 3 1/2" deep. It is, I believe, German, and has a high "lustre" glaze over most of the surface. It is in excellent condition.

These charming friars, arms interlocked and each holding a stein for matches, are one of the most attractive pieces of the genre of majolica I have seen. The piece measures 5 3/4" high, and 7 1/4" high. There are three small glaze chips, all but invisible; nothing major or detracting from the charm of the piece. It is German majolica, and dates from c. 1900. There are numbers on the base, but no maker mark.

This fascinating piece of Austrian porcelain features an oriental type nodder (head rotates, red tongue sticks out) holding a pair of dogs, and sitting next to a barrel which was probably intended to be a toothpick holder, or match holder. It measures 3 3/4" high and 3" wide. there is a variegated glaze with green blue and brown over the body of the piece, with a blue hat, and pinkish skin. This is a fascinating item, and it is miraculous that it has survived.

Here is an unusual tobacco jar or humidor for the collector of Art Nouveau porcelain. This jar, measuring 8 1/4" high, depicts a cavalier lighting his pipe. The base is clearly marked "Royal Bayreuth", and the piece, which dates from c. 1900, is in excellent condition.

This bizarre little item is a chamberstick with a clown-shaped handle. Dressed in a pink suit with a pointed lace collar, this child has a rather"don't mess with me" look on his/her face. It has impressed numbers on the base, likely was made in Germany, and measures 5 1/4" long, and 5" high. It is in pristine condition.
