This is an excellent example of Art Nouveau design at its best! A sinuous, flowing young lady, floating in a Turn of the Century glass panel. The measurements are 59 3/4" in height by 16 1/2" in width. The glass, in excellent condition, was reframed in an oak frame some forty years ago, while the actual panel dates from c. 1910 or even earlier. One is reminded of the figures and designs by Mucha which must have inspired panels like this.
This unusual piece of purple slag glass stands 6 3/4" high and is 3 1/4" diameter at the base. Three footed swans support a flaring rim. This is possibly Sowerby, although it is unmarked. There is one tiny flake on the bill of one of the beak of one swan, otherwise, the condition is excellent. Discoloration around the feet simply means that this piece should have had a bath before it was photographed!
This marvelous pitcher, in pristine condition, is manufactured of the most creamy, pale blue milk glass. It measures 9 3/8" in height and 4 3/8" in diameter at the base. The pressed glass stylized swirl design is handsome and visible in the base. The handle (see detail)is applied, as was the method of manufacture The piece is without chips, or any damage. There is a small "hair" manufacturing glitch close to the spout, but it is in fabric of the piece.
This outstanding and lavish Bohemian cut perfume measures 8" high, and 4 1/2" in diameter. It is turquoise blue, cased over white, and cut to clear with a great deal of lush floral overpainting, most of which survives. Sometime in its long and fragrant history, the perfume has two large fractures repaired with Nineteenth Century staples-the way in which fragile glass and china were repaired before the age of strong glues and polyester resins, which are used now. This Bohemian glass, frosted opaque white with an applied, hand-painted medallion which says "Charlottenbrunn", measures 5" high, and 3 1/8" in diameter. It is in excellent condition. There are tiny aqua glass bead "jewels" around the perimeter of the base, and around the hand-painted medallion. A fine example of the items produced in the Bohemian state of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
This antique milleflori or millefiore paperweight was hand-crafted in the fanciful shape of a grandfather or tall-case clock, It measures measures 7 1/2" high, 2" wide and 1 1/4" deep. It stands on applied, gilded feet. When held to the light, there is some translucence. It is in excellent condition, and my guess is that it is late Nineteenth Century Italian.
Measuring 9 1/2" high with its stopper, this is a charming French, c. 1870 perfume bottle. The blue enamel, and gold highlight decoration is obviously done by hand, while the figural insert, a bit kitchy at that, is done with a transfer print on a while background. The effect is light and pleasing, and all in excellent condition. The caption on the decoration, "La tartine", seems to refer to the child whose goose is about to eat a tiny cake.
