This silver plaque, mounted in an early, carved and gilt frame, dates from the first quarter of the Nineteenth Century. It features a mounted-on-velvet silver plaque depicting what appears to be the presentation of the head of John the Baptist to Salome, who ordered his death. The frame, which has been beautifully restored, measures 7" x 7" square.
