SOLD 

Standing 6" high, and measuring 3 5/8" diameter across the bottom , these Rose Medallion candlesticks are hard to find and most desirable. Each is in very good condition, although one has small chips along the top edge, more felt by touch, than seen. Manufactured in China, c. 1890 and exported abroad shortly later.

Rich, deep tones of lacquer accentuate the decorative quality of these two figures. The sage measures 8 1/2" high (21.5 cm) and the Guan Yin measures 8" (20.25 cm) in height. The rich chocolate brown and brick red are highlighted by metallic sashes on each. The sage is in excellent condition, while there is a repair on the hands of the Guan Yin. Each stands on a black lacquer base original to the pieces. China, c. 1900 is their likely date of manufacture.

This marvelous example of Chinese export porcelain in the Rose Mandarin palette, is a warming plate in virtually mint condition. It measures 9 1/2" in diameter (10" spout to handle), and is 2 1/2" high. Manufactured and decorated by hand in Imperial China in the first quarter of the Nineteenth Century.

The most interesting thing about these three Chinese dishes measuring 7" in diameter, and about 1 1/4" deep, is the mark on the reverse-perhaps an apricot? (see photo). Two of the three are perfect, while one has a 1/4" chip (pictured, although badly) on the top rim. China, c. 1900.

This unusual Chinese Rose Medallion bulb pot has five openings for blooms, and the central "chimney" for watering. It is in excellent condition, and has a four character Chinese Period mark on the base, rather rare on Rose Medallion pieces. It measures 8" in height, and 5" in diameter.It dates from c. 1870, and is in excellent condition, fresh from a Washington, D.C. diplomatic family's estate.

This Chinese sage, dress in a cloak with green bats on a yellow ground, is in excellent condition. It measures 9 1/2" in height, and 2 3/4" wide. Although relatively late by Chinese standards, it is still a fine example of this genre. Fresh from a Washington, DC diplomatic family's estate.

This unusual silk embroidered item is a baby bib, complete with a mother and child motif, a button at the top for securing it, and wonderful, decorative fringe at the bottom. It measures 16 1/2" long, and 12" wide. The fringe at the bottom adds another 6" to the total length making bib + fringe 22 1/2" long. Condition is excellent with only some fading to the colors, and some fraying to the edges (see detail). This comes from China and dates from c. 1900-1910.

This lot of three aqua Chinese Peking glass plates each measures just under 8 1/4". The color is the vibrant aqua that the Chinese mastered so well in this art form. There are minor rubbing and tiny chips on the edges of each. Since every antique should have a story, here is the one I have created for these. This marvelous "mini" Chinese vase dates from the turn of the Eighteenth Century, c. 1810 or so. Although it stands a diminutive 3" in height (7.5mm), it is chock-a-block with bright flowers and gilding. The piece is in superb condition with only some wear to the gilt. It is unmarked, but its decoration clearly places it in the Chinese export category with European clobbering (likely Dutch) from the 1780 - 1820 era.
