$85.00 set of 6

A set of six gilt buttons, English and dating from c.1900, with, interestingly enough a head of Louis XIV. Each measures 1" in diameter, and is in excellent condition with only minimal wear. I acquired this with a lot of military buttons, but cannot immediately imagine why they bear the head of a French monarch, unless they were used on costumes of the period.

Was it for communion? Was it meant as a souvenir? It beats me. But here I have an enamel beaker with the Last Supper on the side. The beaker measures 4 3/4" high, and 4 1/2" in diameter at the mouth. There is some enamel loss to the rim, and a chip on the base. Obviously, this has been used and enjoyed. A friend brought this item back from a trip to North Africa several years ago.

$245.00

Whimsy takes on a new dimension with the German Jack-in-the-box dating from the last quarter of the Nineteenth Century in Germany. The box is manufactured of wood covered in a printed paper, and held closed with a hook. Inside is a cloth-covered spring dressed as a clown, complete with papier mache face and a beard. There is normal wear from use-his nose is flattened from rubbing against the inside of the box, but still lively and functional after some 125 years of use and enjoyment. It measures ...click for details

$185.00

Measuring approximately 13" in diameter, this carving executed in wild black cherry, (artist has helpfully identified each wood type used with a paper sticker!) is hunting dog named "Dusty" on a brass plaque. The piece is realistic and skillfully executed, yet with a folk-art charm. In excellent condition. It is signed "Dale" and dated Feb '87, although I have been able to find nothing about the artist. It has a hanger attached so that it may be hung up.
