Standing 10 1/2" high, this male and female in deep aqua crackle glaze, are handsome Italian pottery chinoiserie figures made for the design import house of WONY in New York City. Although the base is marked "SB 55 WONY ITALY", similar figures were made by the potter Ugo Zaccagni, and Fantoni. As a bonus, each figure bears its original WoNY sticker. This festive figurine of a bouquet-bearing young lady measures 9" high and 7" wide. The colors are brilliant and decorative. Although the condition is really very good, some tiny petals on the flowers in her basket are missing. This is a fine example of the quality decorative pottery being produced in, and exported by Italian potters in the post World War II era.
