With the flamboyant color we have come to expect from the Longwy factory, this limited edition charger glows. The mark indicates that it is #26 of 75 designed by the artist R. Rizzi, c.1950, and decorated by hand by (J.M.)J. Masson. My guess is that it is c. 1950. It is in excellent condition, and was recently acquired from a Washington, DC estate. It is 37 cm, 16" in diameter.
In a frame measuring 21 3/4" x 17 1/2", this plaque depicting a stylized Mount Fujiyama, appears to be made of a wireless cloisonne, or perhaps just a seamless enamel, with a gilt flat enamel sky. The frame has fabric liner. The actual method of manufacture of this item is rather a mystery to me.
Within the frame, the actual enamel piece measures 14" x 9". The enamel is flawless, while the gilt sky has a few rubbed marks on it. There is a signature/caption piece affixed to ...click for details
This curious sterling silver bird (marked and signed) looks to be some sort of pigeon, or perhaps an extinct variety of bird-the figment of an artist's imagination. It stands 2 1/2" high, and 1 7/8" long. There is a polished stone, forming the bird's belly, surrounded with silver wings, feet and head. What a delightful creation, and in excellent condition. This handsome Imari chalice measures, 6" High and 2 /34" in diameter at the top. It has striking Imari blue and reds colors and design, and a brilliant gold interior. It is in excellent condition, and 40 - 50 years old.
