Decorated in lovely Delft blues, this French faience toby measures 11" high, and 6" wide at the arms. The character carries a snuff box and is wearing a floral decorated waistcoat. There are no breaks, cracks or repairs. There are only some rubbing to the glaze on the high points - the hat edges, the elbows, etc. There is a mark which is indecipherable to me (see photo).

A charming French faience box in lovely pastel colors just perfect for your box collection. It measures 3 1/2" x 2 7/8" x 1 1/2" high. The signature on the bottom is an R with a dot above it, and I am guessing at the maker's name. The box is in excellent condition with only a little looseness in the hinge, where the securing pin has slipped. It is possible that the mark on the bottom is Strasbourg, but I am not certain.

This charming creature, measuring 8" high, and 6 1/2" wide at the base, has seductive glass eyes, and a beguiling face. It was manufactured in the years between the wars, as were dozens of other ducks, dogs, sheep and chickens, by the firm of J.Filmont, Caen, France. Often used outside in gardens and as decorative lawn ornaments, many suffered damage. A fine example like this, having only very minor glaze chips and rubbing, is quite rare. Included with this are a copy of the J. Filmont ...click for details
