Now here is the story I got on this piece: hewn of American walnut, this folk art piece was carved by a Michigan furniture craftsman in the last quarter of the Nineteenth Century. It seems to be a watch holder (behind the antlers) with space for the items in a man's pocket, watch chain, change etc. The French call these a vide poche. Now here is an antique lighting item which is also a Russian-French WWI souvenir! A miniature tin lantern, complete with tiny wick and burner, with paper-backed glass inserts of Czar Nicholas II, Alexandra, the Czarina, and (this is a guess) Georges Clemenceau, Prime Minister of France. This charming pin-vinigrette measures 2.3/4" in length. and 7/8" diameter at the viniagrette top. The lid unscrews to show a grill, which itself comes off. In the opening of the horn, the smelling salts could be inserted, which would act as a medicinal or herbal anodyne for bad vapors (germs). The piece is victorian, and likely English or Scottish. It is in good condition, although the silverplating is worn, and shows the brass underneath.

This vermouth label , marked with the Gorham 3 part logo, "Gorham", and the numbers B14, has heavily chiseled shadowing on the ribbon, and in the words "Italian Vermouth". the label measures 2 3/4" in length, and 7/8" at the widest. It is in perfect condition, and labels of this variety, engraved in the factory, are rare.

A button with a chrome or zinc plated frame surrounding an iron button with a dog's head. The button measures 15/16th inches in diameter. The frame appears to be fastened to the iron front with a brass shank. The reverse of the button reads A P & C Paris. There is rust on the iron face and some on the plated "frame". Otherwise, all is well.

A handsome pair of silver plated grape shears. They measure 7" in length and are 2 1/4" wide at the handle. The condition is excellent, with only one minor "bump" on the central connecting bolt.
