Meiji Japanese Imari Saki Decanter, Sterling Spigot
Measuring 13" high, and 4 3/4" square at the base, standing on four porcelain feet, this stunning ewer/decanter for saki, is a striking piece of Japanese Imari. There is restoration - the finial on the lid, and one of the feet shows evidence of repair, and there is a crack at the top of the container (see photos) - but this is still a handsome red and blue decorated piece of Meiji imari. The spigot handle is horn, while the spigot is sterling with English hallmarks. Japan, last quarter of the Nineteenth Century, perhaps earlier.
