Banko Wall Pocket Japanese Peasant Woman, c. 1910
An excellent example of this Japanese ceramic called "banko", this wall pocket, dating from around the First World War, measures 8 1/4" high, and 4" wide. The figure is that of a Japanese woman in traditional working garb with a harvesting basket on her back which forms the flower holder. The back is lightly stamped "Made in Japan" and has an opening for hanging. In excellent condition
