| It is rare to find a pair of unwired (never wired) mirrored back Victorian single candle sconces. The measure 11 1/2" in diameter, and the candle arm extends 7 1/2" from the frame. The detailed brass frame and arm are typical of the 1870's era of wall lighting in finer homes, when mirrors were used to best advantage to reflect and magnify the effect of candles. Superb condition. I have them hanging from a wire, but actually they are designed to hang from a fixed hook on a wall which connects to a hook on the top reverse of each sconce. They could, of course, be wired, but I will leave any alterations to the discretion of the buyer. American manufacture, c. 1870 | ||||||||
