12 Rare Gorham Sterling Pattern Seafood Forks c. 1880
These dozen (in my experience) unique seafood forks are in a pattern of sterling silver flatware I cannot find information on. Not a standard pattern, so perhaps they were a special order, each bears the Gorham mark, sterling, and at the top of the handle, the number "34". Each fork measures 5 5/8" in length, and is in excellent condition. There appears to be Euterpe, the Muse of music, on the top of the handle, and a pastiche of Neo-classical decorations down the length of the handle. I wonder, were there other pieces in this set with a different Muse on them? Just a guess. Fresh from a Washington, D.C. estate. American manufacture (Gorham Silver Company), last quarter of the Nineteenth Century.
