| Knute Heldner (Swedish/American, 1886-1954), "Mountain Lake at Sunset", circa 1925; oil on panel, signed, 36" x 42", fine original frame 44" x 49". Excellent condition. This is a great example of Heldner's brush stroke and use of luminous light. Important New Orleans painter, Heldner studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League. He exhibited extensively in the 1920s at the Art Institute of Chicago, Century of Progress Exposition (1934), Southern States Art League, and the Corcoran Gallery. His work is in the permanent collection of the Historic New Orleans Collection, as well as other museums. | |
