| Wallace Edwin Dancy , “New Orleans/French Quarter, Chartres Street” Circa 1930’s , Platinum/Palladium print , Dancy address sticker and pencil markings on verso, print measures 7 3/8” X 4 7/8“ , original matte measures 13“ x 10“. Excellent condition, fine vintage print. This photographer is listed on the University of Arizona Center Of Creative Photography and other sites. This image comes from a collection of photos comprising the Wallace Edwin Dancy archive. He lived mostly in South Texas. The photo has been in storage until recently when the entire archive was sold. The photo was processed in the late 1930’s to the early 1950’s using the palladium/platinum printing process. Dancy also experimented with other processes including, , bromoil, fresson, single gum, chlorobromide and carbon. Dancy was friends with or acquaintances of : Paul L. Anderson , Anne Brigman (her photos were in a Camera Work, also sold five personal letters she wrote to W.E. Dancy), Ernst Raba, Alex Keighley, Gordon C. Abbott, Eric Sunderland, J. Harold Leighton, Richard Almond, and a few others. | |
