This charming miniature CELLO is made of continental sterling silver, stamped 800 and has two illegible hallmarks
at the base. Dating from around the 1880's, this piece
was most likely hand crafted by a Dutch or German Jeweler or Artisan.
Beautifully executed this wonderful musical instrument is skillfully covered in repousse work on the top, the bottom and even the narrow sides. The silversmiths attention to detail is shown with the superb pastoral scenes and the intricate details throughout. There are four separate strings, along with four tuning pegs and lady's face on the scroll of the instrument. Once opened the inside reveals a compartment covered in an elegant gold wash. The piece measures 5.25"L x 1.75"W and is in excellent condition. This would make an excellent gift for someone very special, someone who plays a musical instrument or a Cello, or maybe a fan of the Symphony Orchestra.
