This elegant French Louis XVI Gilt Wood Mirror (wide bevel) has exceptional carving with an exuberant high relief crest with arched and pierced floral motif. Large protruding feathers above a plumed helmet all flanked by flags and crossed quivers. The rectangular frame is adorned with lively scrollwork on diamond patterned background finished in a bright and matte gilding. This is a very early piece and you can see on the reverse the way the tenons join the frame in the corners. This frame
has been professionally regilded years ago
and is in spectacular condition. The mirror has a very wide bevel that can be seen in the first photo.
