Description: This is an antique bronze bracelet from either the Lobi or Dyan cultures of the Western Africa. The piece is from the former French colony of Upper Volta (present day Burkina Faso). The bracelet has three bells on it with incised geometric designs. The bells would have been used to summon protective ancestral spirits to watch over the wearer. Description: This is a wooden box from the African culture known as the Kuba dating to circa 1900. The box is hand carved from wood and features a face motif on the top of the lid and geometric designs around the outside of the box. Theses boxes were called ngedi mu ntey by the Kuba and would have been used to hold tukula (twool), a red powder made from ground cam wood.
