A nineteenth century menuki mounted onto a “one size fits all” silver bracelet. The piece depicts two shishi, a mother and child. Menuki originate from the handle of a Japanese samurai sword to aid with grip and serve as symbolic décor. A matching pair is attached to the hilt of the sword and is then covered by silk string braided around the handle. They are made of iron, inlaid with silver and overlaid with high karat gold. This piece is a beautiful, Japanese, Antique hairbrush, done in a weighty sterling silver. The piece is from the Meiji period and dates to about 1880 – 1820. The back of the brush has a bold motif!
