This large panel is a carpet, made of golden brown cut velvet. It was woven in three panels and then attached to form a large area carpet. The panels a shot through with metallic gold and green threads showing designs pertaining to scholars. This piece may have been used in the Forbidden City. It has had some slight restoration work, but is in overall good condition. Circa 1800.
