This early 19th century Bizen sculpture is of a dog sitting on a patch of grass. The slow firing in the kiln has produced a rich, reddish brown color with ash creating splashes of a green glaze to the top of the head and parts of the body. This early 20th century Ohi koro incense burner is shaped as a shishi or mythical lion. It has the characteristic Ohi rich amber iron glaze and has been finely crafted with wonderful stylized detailing. There is a carved signature on the base and it comes in the original signed box.
