This early to mid-1900’s ikebana basket is distinctly Japanese with its rich nemagaridake bamboo, organic form and irregular weave. Reflecting sensitivity to nature and design, this artist integrated rootwood into the body and vine around the rim. An asymmetrical rootwood handle adds an unexpected contrast and tension to what may have otherwise been a static, ordinary basket. Excellent condition. Dimensions: 20” x 10”
