| In Japanese art, naturalistic renderings of gourds were popular in the Edo Period, at which time interest in the observation of plants and animals thrived. This early 1900’s textured bronze vase is cast in the shape of a gourd with trailing leaves in high relief. The handle is twisted in the form of a worm. Very good condition with minor surface marks.
