| A very fine and impressive Chinese export silver salver from the most important Canton and Hong Kong silversmith, WANG HING. This magnificent, heavy gauge example exhibits all the hallmarks of the finest China Trade silver in the beautiful repousse work in the central figurative cartouche and the lobed borders as well as the finest chasing of pheasants and plum blossom on the pin-punched central ground. The salver rests on four cast acanthus style feet and retains its original silk lined wooden storage box. Size: 18.5 inches (47cm). Weight: 2590gms. Date: circa 1880. Excellent condition. A similar, smaller example is illustrated in 'Carving of the Old China Trade' (Irons, page 68). We have one of the finest collections of Chinese and Japanese export silver in the world, with over 200 top quality items for sale at any time (not shown on our website). We regularly sell to five museums in the region. Please contact us if you are looking to add to your collection. | |||||||||||
