This photo doesn't do justice to the beautiful color or the engraving of these bottles. This pair of late 19th century purple blown glass wine decanters are engraved with grapes, vines and leaves. They have sterling collars with cork stoppers which were made for them about twenty years ago by a jeweler in Los Angeles. They stand 14 1/2 inches high. The bottoms have polished pontil marks. They show their age and useage by wear to the bottoms which have fine scratches around the perimeter. The ...click for details

The design and color combinations in this 9' x 3' floral hooked rug are wonderful and are still bright, but more muted than the fresh colors on the reverse. No two things are alike in this rug except for the acanthus leaf inner border and the green leaf outer border. The dark green binding has minor wear on the front and there are two very small spots where threads are missing in the body of the rug (see photo). If the binding were changed to cover the canvas edges showing on the back, t ...click for details

A lovely sterling fish set consisting of an ornate knife and fork with the date marks for 1881-82, Birmingham, and a maker's mark of H & T. The knife is 12 1/2 inches and the fork is 9 1/4". There are some dents in both handles, which are shaped around wood, and each have one or two spots with silver missing which can only be seen with a loop, are consistant with their age and useage and don't detract at all from their beauty. Both pieces are fully hallmarked.

These elegant sterling tongs have a maker's mark of 'GS' over 'TE', which I've not been able to find in any of my books of hallmarks. There are three hallmarks; the King's head, a lion and the date mark 'A' for 1796. There is an elaborate monogram on the top which might be 'MPT'. There are also letters written along the inside of one arm that are now faint; the tongs must be turned to catch the light to see them. They could be 'tye' or 'dy ...click for details
