An Extremely Rare Pair of Carved/Papered Wedding Ducks;
Korea, late 19th Century, Dated 1874, Described and Carver named Kim Han Soo
This pair of solid (Paulawnia) wood carved, dotted in red (groom) and green (bridegroom) body painted with light polychrome pigments over paper and then oiled.
Each duck bears 4 large letter poems and one of them has a date (1874) and name of caver (Kim Han Soo) with 2 red seals. Especially, with a date and description are not a common in Korean wedding ducks. ...click for details

A Finely Incised Bamboo Scholars Brush Pot (Holder):
Korea, Choson period, 19th century,
It is fine cylindrical ribbed bamboo brush pot decorated with engraved
vertical lines around, the underside naturally countersunk,
and it has a very beautiful natural darl-red patina around body.
It is in very good condition. Measures 8 x 4 1/4
