Japanese Antique Textile Tsutsugaki Fireman's Coat
This is a kaji-banten ( fireman's coat ) made of thick cotton cloth. It has two kinds of cotton cloth sewn together inside, one has katazome ( stencil-dyeing ) asa-no-ha ( hemp leaf ) pattern and the other has tsutsugaki cloud pattern. It is in excellent condition except for some wear in the hem and wrist areas. Late 19th to early 20th century. 124cm x 116cm
