| This is a noren ( curtain ) made of shina-fu which is the bast fiber taken from the bark of the shina tree. The shina tree grows widely in Japan and shina-fu had been woven since ancient time, however it is woven only in Yamagata or Niigata prefecture these days. This noren has katazome ( stencil-resist-dyeing ) design. It has wear in the lower parts and some holes. 20th century. 108cm x 144cm | ||||||||||||||
