SPECIAL SALE $980

A very large Doucai (contrasting colors) late Ming jar with a very beautifully carved antique lid made to simulate a lotus leaf with stem. The jar is marked with the traditional hare so commonly found on your late Ming to transitional wares (1600-1683). The unrefined pale buff foot rim and the general shape of the jar clearly designates this to the late Ming period, as it commonly known among professionals that the porcelain wares of the Qing (1644-1911) had well rounded and expertly finished b ...click for details

A very rare and strikingly beautiful antique red coral calligraphy brush. The beads that fashion the handle of the brush are very intricately carved into traditional gourds that emulate prosperity. This is genuine red antique coral and has not been enhanced nor dyed. Such a color effect is only achieved where mercury is present, a very rare and natural occurrence that seldom produces a salmon red. The brush dates to the early 20th and is an excellent addition to the scholars studio or art coll ...click for details

$1,250 Firm

This unique mid 19th C camphor wood sculpture of a monk holding a fish is one the finest examples of Chinese art I have ever owned. It is serene and gentle, yet powerfully masculine. Notice the lifelike age lines about the face and forehead and the well rendered eyes. This monk is heavily gold gilded with real gold mixed with a clear lacquer, so much so that within the crevices of his robe and the craggy rock on which he stands are modules of small nuggets. In excellent condition with only ...click for details

One of my personal long time favorites, this very well crafted yellow sand (yixing) teapot is truly a delight. The lid had been cut with a sharp knife and produces a very secure and snug fit, yet it can be easily removed. The bottom shows wear and it has obviously been lovingly used; the texture is hard to describe but has taken on a very beautiful patina. This is one of the better yixing teapots as it will be observed that it strikes a perfect balance of both weight and size. The thematic ca ...click for details

$185 each or 350 pair

Measuring 7.25" (18.4 cm) diameter are these two exquisite Chinese dishes with a celadon background. The enamels are vibrant and well executed. Please note in the last photo that one plate is slightly warped. Produced between 1820-1850, these dishes are in the best shape we have seen in years with very little wear to the enameling. They come from our private collection and look much better than pictured. You will not be disappointed.

$5,800

This intriguing and stunning bronze is a Chinese ancestral double hu jar with 9 lively Chi dragons. The lid doubles for a brush rest, while the jars were used for a small spray of flowers. This is one of the most beautiful scholar objects that I have ever had the privilege of selling. It exhibits a good amount of age as evidenced by some verdigris with reddish tones of a dark chocolate patina. The style of the chi dragons are comparable to specimens that are seen in some of the jade vessels ...click for details

$3,800

A magnificent pair of late Qing Dynasty, 1880-1900, cobalt blue vases. I have seen this type and color Chinese vase referred as Peking Glass, but Lark Mason, www.igavel.com, referred to a similar pair of vases as "Chinese blue cobalt glass vases" on an episode of Antiques Roadshow. Upon very close inspection it can be noticed that inside of one neck rim has been carefully ground down about 1/8 of an inch on a 50 degree angle, probably a repair due to chipping (see fourth enlargement) ...click for details
