This stunning sesame-seed yellow tokoname vase is a unique creation, and frankly the only one of its kind I've found on the market. The motif encompasses 2 writhing dragons emerging in and out from the misty clouds, until they emerge to embrace the vase, forming the exquisite handles. Each dragon is meticulously hand-sculpted in exacting detail. Varying bands of impressed designs are found within the inner lip, as well as around the mouth rim, shoulder, stem, and foot rim, for a total of ...click for details

This is an excellent study piece as it allows you to observe the compact paste in the chipped area of the foot, as well as glaze movement. This Jun bowl is offered as is, and has uneven pooling of the glaze, a large chip at the foot, a body crack but doesn't go through, some glaze chips from the base when the bowl was removed from the kiln and a very tiny chip on the rim. 20 1/2" tall! An unusual Japanese Awaji Pottery vase hand thrown with applied floral pieces. Though designed for ikebana, the basic bottle point form and the beautiful glaze makes this vase a very striking piece that could be displayed as an art object. The artist used his creative talents to make the vase stand out by applying pieces that appear to be a log with a vine and a large flower. One flower on the backside is chipped, see photo, but because the applied pieces are somewhat abstra ...click for details
