Rare Crouching Dog White Ink Cake for Chinese Scholar

A very unusual and extremely rare ink cake in the form of a crouching dog, circa 1800. From its underside you see evidence that the ink cake was hand molded, what is even more remarkable is that this is a white ink cake, and most likely would have been used in special paintings of the scholar class. The stand is included but is not antique. The cake measures 3.5" (8.9 cm) long, 1.5" (3.8 cm) high, 2.5" (6.4 cm) wide. This has a nice patina and is another one of those items that does not photograph as well as it looks. You will not be disappointed.
