Frequently Asked Questions

Visitors

Q: I am thinking about joining TROCADERO. What software is required?
A: You need only one browser (Netscape 3.0+ or Explorer 4.0+) and one photo editing application. We presently do not recommend Netscape 6 as it has bugs yet and has presented problems for some of our members. If you purchase a camera or scanner, a photo editing application will come with it. It does not have to be one of the ones we list in our Help pages.

Q: What do I need to do to prepare pictures for uploading to a catalog?
A: Our catalog maintenance features include automatic compression and thumbnail picture creation to save you time and effort. You just upload a single enlargement. Even the maximum enlargement size is adjusted for by our software. With an E-Commerce account, you may also upload up to five additional enlargement views for each listing.

Q: Do I need to know HTML to join and use TROCADERO?
A: No. The HTML for your entire site as well as for submitting items to auction from our interface is generated automatically by TROCADERO.

Q: When I modify an item in my catalog and proceed to view it, I always get the previous version... even though it may have actually been changed. Am I doing something improper or not remembering to do something required?
A: You are not doing anything wrong or forgetting to do anything. Your computer is designed to "cache" pages. In some circumstances it detects that you are asking for the same document so it gives you a stored copy for faster viewing. You can view your changes - usually - by "reloading" the page (once arrived at) from your browser controls. Even this has proven to be hit-and-miss when viewing changes to catalog photos created interactively. You may find that you have to right-click on the picture, select "View Picture" and then "reload" from your browser controls in such event. Don't worry too much, though. Users going to the page for the first time in a session will see your changes right away.
