Getting Started

You don't have to be a computer whiz to use our registration and site maintenance features. If you are comfortable with your operating system and the internet then you should be ready to roll. There will be plenty of opportunity to contact us if you have questions while using our services.

Joining TROCADERO

All the features to join TROCADERO are on this website. Our "Join Us" page gives you more information about us, fees, services and what you will need. From there you are taken to our registration process which is also online, interactive and self-explanatory. You should not need to call anyone or wait for long. The registration process should take just a few minutes. During the registration process, you will receive automated email instructions each step of the way. If you require assistance, you may reply to any of these emails to receive support. There are instructions to contact us to register you manually should you so decide.

Home Page Creation & Maintenance

Creating your home page - at least a temporary one - is accomplished during registration with pre-prepared templates. You may defer this after registration and return to this link later (remember to note your username and password) or use this link to redesign your page at your convenience. You need to do this, however, before you can upload items to your online catalog with us.

We will assist in editing homepages produced by our templates to ensure text and layout is clean, correct and presentable. For pre-paid accounts, we will pamper half year subscriptions with custom homepage layout and will work with full year subscriptions to design custom logo and background graphics.

If you already have a custom designed home page - or will have one made - you can (after registration and setup using our standard templates) inquire into adapting a custom homepage design to our template process ($55 per hour - one to two hours typical). We also provide design services.

Adding/Editing/Deleting Records

Catalog Maintenance on TROCADERO is accomplished online with our interactive pages (inline instructions included). Have your Username and Password ready. You will not need FTP software. You will need to have a dial-up ISP account and be running Netscape 3.0+ or Explorer 4.0+ as they interface with our graphics upload features. If you are intending to illustrate your items you would benefit from having a digital camera or scanner (see the consumer links we provide) and accompanying software to prepare your graphics (see our software reviews and download links if an application didn't come free with your camera or scanner.) Our catalog maintenance features automatically size and compress your catalog and thumbnail photos. This greatly reduces your effort and your dependence on various software applications.

Selling On TROCADERO

You handle your own sales. TROCADERO does not take commissions. Your email (or telephone number) is listed with your items. Most often interest is expressed via email or (for e-commerce accounts) our secure server inquiry process. Occasionally a client is more comfortable telephoning. Of course, if you do not use the internet but have a site on TROCADERO to promote your business, you may take all calls by telephone. If you contract with someone to manage a site for you, they could relay email messages for you. We recommend, whichever way you handle your site, that you post prices (although not required) as there is less anxiety for a client not needing to request a price - possibly for naught (our humble opinion).
