Royal Doulton Bone China Jug by Henry Mayo Bateman (1887-1970) date marked for 1938. This rare piece is 5 1/2" high. It features scene 12: Officer with monocle, scene 13: Soldiers marching, and scene 14: Soldiers presenting arms. MADE FOR G.B.&S. LONDON. Bateman was a social satirist with a gift for caricature who contributed humorous drawings to most of the leading magazines of the 1920's and 1930's, such as PUNCH and THE TATLER.
