A Georgian mahogany kneehole desk, late 18th century. The top drawer with a tooled leather slide over multiple compartments, lift-out trays and drawers over a molded shallow “secret” drawer. The base with four drawers each side, kneehole section with cabinet door, all raised on original bracket feet. Original brasses. The secondary woods are oak and pine. An outstanding set of six Queen Anne walnut side chairs of the finest quality, English, early 18th century, each with a yoke crest and vasiform splat, above a slip seat supported by cabriole legs terminating in slipper feet. From a Maryland home, originally purchased in 1969 for $7000 (receipt available) from William Blair who described them as “the best of the type we have ever offered.” 39” h. (the back), 18” h.
