This zabuton(Japanese cushion) are from very rich old family. It is made of asa(Japanese hemp), and fabulous dyed and embroidery pattern on it. It fabric seems to be from asa kimono of Edo Priod( 1603-1867). Please enjoy its fantastic details with more photos. Especially its hawk embroidery is fabulous! This is an exceptionally rare antique book, which seems to be from Meiji period(1868-1912). 13 figures are included. Outlines, heads, hands and foot are painted ( They seem to be antique woodblock prints, and they were cut out and pasted on this book. They seemed to be woodblock printed, and partly hand paint seemed to be added.) , and all kimonos are made of fabrics! This is a supreme uchikake from Meiji period(1868-1912). It has incredibly fine pattern, which is elaborately embroidered all over it. Carp climbing the waterfall and flowers are embroidered dramatically. Textile is rinzu silk, and has soft touch. It has some small holes and stains. Embroidery stitches are coming off in a few parts and an eye of a carp has crack. However, as a whole it is in very good condition. We highly recommend this magnificent antique uchikake!
