A rustic old Japanese asa-kaya fabric. The deep yet sheer indigo green with right brown stripes. This kaya is a rough-woven asa linen and it is assumed to be from Japanese Tohoku region (the Northern Honshu). Ca. Meiji era (1868-1912) Dimension: 14"wide 70" long

This Japanese Oribe oil bottle, abura-tsubo, was used for oil-lamp and it has a symmetrical and balanced shape with two chrysanthemums on the both sides. This rare Japanese smoking "tray", tobacco-bon, is stylistically very similar to hibachi brazier. The rectangular-shape chest has an iron 'hi-ire' (brazier) for lighting tobacco on pipe while the bamboo tube is used as an ash-tray. At the bottom, there are two small drawers with handsome hand-crafted iron pulls. The tobacco-bon is made from keyaki (zelkova) wood and kiri (paulownia) wood.
