This delightful facial expression is the reason for our acquisition of this Ebisu doll. While Daikoku and Ebisu dolls are often paired and displayed, "single" Ebisu dolls are much harder to find. Ebisu is one of the Lucky Gods (Shichifukujin) and is symbolized as the god of prosperity and abundance. This Japanese sake-bukuro bag has very attractive mendings and aged patinas as the images show. The bag is made from cotton canvas and it was dyed with persimmon juice to enhance its strength. This charming pair of Japanese Daikokuten & Ebisu wooden figures possesses an attractive patina of the history they own. These figures are considered as two of seven Lucky Gods, shichifuku-jin, in Japan.
