This sakiori obi is wider width and the pattern is also simple. The mixture of red, white, and very minimum of black yarns are used and we believe that silk and other material are woven together. The obi will create a lovely holiday decoration. There is a small rip at the end of the obi (approximately 1/4") as the image shows and there are some very small stains, almost invisible, on one side; otherwise it is in excellent condition. Ca. Early to mid 1900s Dimensions:

The back of the katazome is slightly darke ...click for details

This charming men's sakiori obi is probably from the mid to late 1900s. The obi was hand-woven from silk (and possibly other natural yarns) and it has a rustic country touch. The width of the obi is alsmot a half of women's which is typical for men's use. There is no distinguished pattern on the obi yet the obi possesses the subtle and chic aesthetics that attribute to Japanese. The colors you find on this obi are deep burgundy, charcoal gray, and light brown. It is in excellent con ...click for details

This sakiori obi could be made for children's use. The length is relatively short and the both ends are folded into triangle shape and the two ties are attached to the ends for easy use. One of the ties is however worn off due to the age and heavy use. Despite of the age, the body of the obi is in very good condition and it has a very gentle touch. Traditionally sakiori obis were made by remote country people who could not access raw materials to produce sturdy and practical obis for themsel ...click for details
