Japanese Nesting Lunch Boxes Mage-Wappa Obento-bako
A lovely old lunch box set. The style of the boxes are called 'mage-wappa' which involves with skillful bending wood techniques. Stylistically these remind of American Shaker's boxes. This set comes with a large box, which originally was filled with rice and pickles, and a charming small box, which was used to hold some cooked vegetable/seafood dishes. The both boxes show a well used appearance which has added a warm sense and they still hold a great charm of what they are. The both boxes are lacquered finish. The small one will fit perfectly to the inside of the larger one for storage. Ca. Meiji (1868-1912) Dimensions: The larger one, 7 1/4"wide 4 3/8"deep 3 3/8" high The small one, 5"wide 2 3/4' deep 2 1/16" high
