| This old katazome fabric depicts circles of cranes and turtles, which implies that the fabric was made for wedding celebration. The katazome fabric is made from relatively thicker hand-spun cotton (almost a vintage jeans like texture) and beautifully aged and faded. Pine, bamboo, and plum (sho-chiku-bai) also make auspicious circles, along with karakusa-grass pattern. This katazome fabric is made from 2 width unit (futa-haba) and they are stitched. The back of the katazome is slightly darker in indigo color. There is a small hole (approximately 1.5" wide as shown on a photo) , otherwise it is in great condition. Ca. Mid to late 1800s. Dimensions:27.5" wide 66" long | ||
