| PRE-COLUMBIAN HUMAN CERAMIC FIGURE (Pair - see #JM011) CHANCO culture, 2000 years before The QUIMBAYA culture. A seated male figure, common in the middle Cauca Valley (COLOMBIA) in the earlier period. With long curving legs, right hand upraised and palm open, the face with deeply slit features and decorated remains of ocher stripes. Head and forehead pierced for decorating probably with feathers; Arms with two constricting bands at the wrist and upper arms. Constricting bands and mark also at the knees.The feet are elephant like which makes them for earlier period. 8-1/4 X 6-5/8 The gold nose-ring is authentic but not the original.
