45,000 yen--Exchange Rates at www.xe.com/ucc/

Here is a charming ceramic hotokesama figure; the smile is radiant and content and certainly was made by an enlightened Zen Buddhism follower. Who that was we do not know. In the right hand is a set of prayer beads and the left hand is open to hold a small amulet or other charm; a small hole in the right hand holds a bamboo staff. A green lotus base supports the sturdy figure. A rare find, in perfect condition, 24cm.tall, unsigned, dating to the mid-20th century.
