In September I went to Kakurezaki's to select works and they finally arrived; we'll have most to view next week and we start with the only chawan. It has an ancient feel, not in a chawan way, yet of something simply born from the earth; the form is thoroughly Kakurezaki's and the firing is truly of the first order. It has some heft in the hands, also notice the kodai-foot, sublime. In perfect condition with a signed box, 9.5cm.tallx15.4x12.3, signed on base. This is a rare case where ...click for details

A yunomi for all seasons, a yunomi to start the day, tea time midday, a vessel that is more at one's side then any other. Yoshida Yoshihiko made these three--more about Yoshida in our archives--and each has a light greenish-beige ash glaze with iron underglaze mugiwara-de stripe designs. Each is masterfully thrown, ranging from 9-10cm.tall, signed boxes for each.

We all know Koie is a world-wide celebrated ceramic artist and since Robert returned from LA yesterday he saw it fitting to offer these two Koies, having seen that a major LA museum is moving into contemporary Japanese ceramic art; a great thing indeed! The tall forms each have a round 'ball' that is more of 'partner' to the tall form rather than a top. The clay is Shigaraki. The taller one is 44cm.tall with the ball at 8.4cm.tall; the other is 30.6cm.tall with the balla t ...click for details

We hoped you've enjoyed viewing Ajiki Jun's chawan and understand what a fine emerging talent he is; here is our last chawan in a very oval organic form with a soft delicate glazing and added 'butterfly' inlays as often seen on Nakashima's masterpiece furniture creations. In perfect condition with a signed box, 13.5cm.tallx12. We will introduce new works from tomorrow.....!

We are extremely proud to present the world debut of Ajiki Jun, a potter with one form on his mind--at this point in time--and in his blood: chawan. He's been making chawan for years now, yet shown them to no one for purchase, at his father's studio; yes Jun is Hiro's son. As one very astute client wrote when he previewed the chawan, "Seems like these second or third generation potter's sons skip the 20 year learning process that their fathers go through and are quite techni ...click for details
