This mid-late 1500s Bizen tsubo was originally used by farmers to store seeds, etc..and is now a perfect vessel for chabana or 'tea flowers.' When looking at jars from this period a few points are of major importance to tell from later copies; these are the way the lip is formed, shoulders, and overall form as well as 'clay flavor.' This tsubo has all traits placing it to the mid-late Muromachi period and a few reference photos from books are included in this listing. You'll be able to notice the common traits as noted above. One of the books is a rare 'Masterpiece Bizen' book from 1961 by Katsura Matasaburo and we have one copy available, see listing 413957. In perfect condition, 19cm.tallx21, no box.
