We have a limited number of Okabe Mineo retrospective catalogs from his exhibition that started in Tokyo last week and will travel to four other locales in Japan until Sept. 2008. Okabe is an unheralded giant outside of Japan although he is one of the most important 20th century ceramic artists. His past exhibition catalogs were collector items--up until now--with one limited edition selling for over 100,000 yen(ps-actually just saw one online from a Tokyo gallery, 189,000 yen). This essential new catalog covers his entire career with color photos of some 170 works, essays, biography, list of works, glossary and even box inscription photos. In English there is two essays, photo captions and box inscription details. The catalog is 234 pages. Postage to the US would be 3,200 yen for EMS express, 1,580 for regular SAL, and 1,080 by ship; for Europe respectively 3,700 yen, 1,880, and 1,080.
