Not many Shigaraki ceramists have the artistic depth of Kohyama Yasuhisa (b.1936); I greatly respect this ceramic artist. He has essayed incredible sculptural works, as well as graceful chadogu (tea utensils) and is one of the most important Shigaraki ceramic artists in all of it long history. His works are in collections worldwide, including The Metropolitan and Brooklyn museums in New York, Cleveland, Everson, and Philadelphia museums, and many others. Kohyama's work always have a distinct presence and here is a 'wing' form he is well-known for. The slicing method he uses creates smooth and rough sides accentuating the beauty of the clay. In perfect condition with a signed box, 18cm.tallx34x11,signed on base.
